2008 Quick Review

Well the season has ended and what a season it was…..

Hyden 400

We got off to a bumpy start with Adam not being able to race due to his son Noah being born the week before the race but Funky Mark took up the challenge of directing Stuart around the track for the event and the two of them ended the weekend with a well deserved 3rd in class.

Brookton King of the Hill

It was a quick run to the weekend with the car only being ready to race the Friday before. We all got to Brookton nice and early and got things setup for the weekend. It was gunna be a wet one. Things got a little interesting with us getting bogged a couple of times with the heavy Red Ute and the extremely wet track. Good fun had by all. A few of the soon to be new Domination Crew came out on Sunday to see all the fun and games that is a race weekend and had a ball. Once again finishing with a 3rd in class for the weekend gave everyone a smile. Paula Haley and Ben decided to give my ute a run and grab all the markers from the track after racing and got it good and covered in mud. But they had fun.

Mogumber 240

This time the car was good to go a month prior to racing so we didn't need to do much the week before. The whole crew came out for the weekend and it was a big event with a very real chance of putting us in position to win the championship. This is probably one of the roughest tracks we have ever raced and the car took a beating. Come Saturday night we realized that we had busted a few body mounts and decided the best quick fix was to drink lots and use the carton for padding between the mounts and the body then tie it all together with a ratchet strap (who we kidding we where gunna drink it anyway. And it actually worked…. For a while). Again everyone had a ball and we discovered that we will now all be known as the Domination crew, mainly due to the fact that everyone chipped in to help with as much as we could for the weekend with our team and others as well the fact that we all had domination t-shirts on all weekend. We knew it was going to be close for position but where happy either way, Stu had driven as hard as he could and we where both feeling it. We got awarded 2nd but later discovered that we had actually finished FIRST in class for the weekend and everyone was over the moon. A great effort from the whole team, without them we would have been lucky to of made it round the track at all.

20th Anniversary Hyden Humps

Stuart spent the week before the race in Perth putting the car back together after the beating we gave it at Mogumber. We got it all ready to go and headed out to Hyden on Saturday morning. We spent the day just setting up camp and putting the finishing touches on the car as we where in for a special treat… As it was the 20th anniversary of the event we where going to race at night. Boy did we have some fun and I don't think there was a single competitor that didn't get out of the car with a big grin wanting to go again. Truly a credit to the organizers for setting up the event and getting us all home safe at the end. The rest of the weekend was the usual thrills and spills but we came home with 3rd for the event. Then we celebrated in true Hyden style. We got smashed. Monday morning we cleaned up and a few of the drivers went for a couple of hot laps with crew and spectators that where still hanging around.
